My love for India and its ancient wisdom started at the age of 10. An older brother was initiated into the teaching of mantra. I got my first mantra at the age of 12 and and began my studies of Vedanta. In the early 1990’s I started studying Jyotish at an ashram in the mountains of east coast USA: Arsha Vidya Gurukulam. The main guru at the time was Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati. We were blessed with a steady stream of Jyotish teachers from India: KN Rao, Dr. KS Charak, Vinay Aditya, Yogi Karve, Gayatri Devi Vasudev (daughter of BV Raman), Nandan Chirmulay, Chakrapani Ullal, Narendra Desai,
Vinay Aditya, Vasat Bhatt, and RJ Krishnanand. Also at the ashram we were able to take intensives with Hart da Fauw. It was a great feast of wisdom. The ashram continues to have classes.
Jyotish shows us how the wheels of karma play out in the dimensions of space and time. Patterns of life experience can be seen along the timeline of the cosmic clock and how that unfolds in our personal experiences in this world. While each life is unique, the Vedic perspective is that all life emerges from the eternal forces that create and structure the universe, the Vedic Gods. This astrology is spiritual at its core and practical in its applications. We find in the stories from the Vedic literature, as above, so below. Our journey through life can be seen by the interactions of the planets, signs, houses and nakshatras. The planets are called grahas. They grasp us and compel us to act out portions of our accumulated past karmas. The stories of the Vedic Gods guide us in how the grahas and nakshatras will bring to us the fruits of our karma. At the time of our first breath, the patterns in the sky become a blueprint for the nature and timeline of our life experiences.
As a Jyotish astrologer, it is my job to blend all of the qualities and themes of each graha and how they interact with the sign, house, nakshatra and each other. An astrology chart lays out the characteristics and time line of a human life, from childhood, parents, family, home, education, career, marriage, health and wealth. Timing for marriage and children, the nature of one’s future partner, what one is likely to succeed best in career and education, immigration, sale of a home, emotion and financial ups and down, the list goes on. I can address a specific issue or question you are having, or do a more generalized life reading. Let me know how I can help.
